PlantSustain was a biocidal microbe technology company established by Big Idea Ventures’ Generation Food Rural Partners (GFRP) fund to commercialize biological innovation in agriculture [1, 2, 5]. The company developed a platform of naturally symbiotic bacteria and fungi solutions intended to replace traditional chemical fertilizers and pesticides [1, 5]. By licensing intellectual property from leading universities and research institutions, the company focused on enhancing plant resilience, increasing nutritional intake, and improving overall crop health and performance [1, 2, 7].

The company served growers by providing sustainable, field-proven biological products designed to address agricultural challenges and improve farming margins [5]. Under the leadership of CEO Simon Hill, PlantSustain aimed to bridge the gap between academic research and commercial agricultural application [1, 2]. In March 2026, PlantSustain was acquired by the biological agricultural platform Frontera Ag to expand that company's portfolio in plant resilience and biological crop protection [4, 5].
