Industry collaborations in translating findings from our microbiome research into AgTech, human health, and veterinary medicine. Development of probiotics and microbiome based therapeutics. Funding for pregnancy and infant microbiome based projects in underrepresented populations
About
I received B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in Human Genetics from UChicago. After postdoctoral training in Carlos Bustamante’s lab at Stanford University, I served as Head of Bioinformatics at NomNomNow before joining NYU Abu Dhabi as Assistant Professor in Fall 2020. I lead an interdisciplinary research program in human population genetics and microbiome science focused on underrepresented populations. My work helps translate large-scale, diverse multi-omic data into actionable insights, addressing industry challenges in precision health, microbiome-based products, algorithmic bias, and global product generalizability. I have published 10 papers, including in Science and Cell, and my research is supported by NYUAD and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
