I am a molecular microbial ecologist specializing in microbial interactions and their ecosystem functions. My research is focused on microbial processes affecting the soil carbon and nitrogen cycle, greenhouse gas emissions, and antimicrobial resistance in the environment.
About
My research interest is in determining the drivers of microbial ecosystem function, and I have expertise in microbiome characterization, shotgun metagenomics and metatranscriptomics. I am running projects focused on 1) understanding how microbial ecosystem function is affected by land use change and pollutants; 2) linking microbial interactions with soil carbon, nitrogen and greenhouse gas emissions; 3) understanding antimicrobial resistance in the environment through a One Health approach. I also have a long-standing interest in working with microbial glycoside hydrolase genes.
