I research crop-forage-livestock systems can be used to develop sustainable agricultural practices that promote natural resource managment and farmer livelihoods through adaptation and mitigation to climatic and market volatility.
About
Water, the “lifeline” of agriculture, isunder severe strain due to excessive aquifer withdrawal, minimal recharge, and changing rain patterns worldwide. To sustain the agriculture and livestock industry under future extreme environments, drought tolerant and low nutrient requiring crops and forages can be ideal alternatives.
My research focuses on assessing the agronomic and nutritional characterisitcs of crops and forages, like corn, sorhgum, and pearl millet under varying cultural management practices to develop diverse production systems that a resilient to climatic and market changes.
