Synthetic Biology, RNA Therapeutics, Chemical Biology, Protein Engineering
About
Bryan Dickinson's research falls within the broad areas of organic chemistry and chemical biology, in which a multidisciplinary approach is taken to develop and apply new technologies to address biological questions. His laboratory employs the techniques of synthetic chemistry, biochemistry, protein engineering, and evolution to address critical questions relating to mammalian cellular biology. Through his research Bryan is well poised to find solutions particularly in the therapeutics space. An example of his research application is to create biosensing platforms to analyze endogenous (bio)chemical processes using high-throughput sequencing, and to develop new rapid evolution platforms to reprogram biomolecules and small molecule therapies.
A recipient of the American Chemical Society Nobel Laureate Signature Award, Dickinson earned his PhD in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a BS in biochemistry from the University of Maryland, College Park. He was previously a Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fellow at Harvard University. Dr. Dickinson is currently Assistant professor at the University of Chicago in the Dept of Chemistry.
