Developing an integrated microalgae biorefinery that sequentially recovers lipids, proteins and chitosan from the same biomass. Current work focuses on optimising fractionation, chitosan recovery and the valorisation of all three high-value fractions.
About
ChamBio is a deep-tech biotechnology company developing integrated microalgae biorefinery processes to unlock more value from a single biomass. Our approach combines sequential lipid and protein extraction with the recovery of naturally occurring chitosan from microalgae. By integrating these three fractions into one process, ChamBio aims to improve biomass utilisation while creating high-value ingredients and biomaterials from a cultivated, traceable feedstock. Our expertise spans green extraction, bioprocess development, polymer chemistry and material characterisation, from laboratory proof-of-concept toward scalable fractionation and product development.
