DS is Director of the Institute of Translational Immunology, Mainz University Medical Center, Germany, and Professor of Medicine, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston. His research and clinical focus are on the role of nutrient signals, the intestinal immune system and microbiome in metabolic and inflammatory diseases, autoimmunity, on inflammation and fibrosis of gut, liver, kidney and lungs, and novel therapies of cancers, using targeted (nanoparticular) technologies, and on development of noninvasive biomarkers to predict and monitor the disease activities.
