Dr. Haifang Wen studies pavement materials at the process level—rheology and mechanics of asphalt binders, mixtures, and pavement–subgrade systems—linking polymer behavior and shear flow to failure prediction, storage stability, and performance. His team models roadway thermal loads, including wildfire heating, to assess damage and support safer evacuations.
