About
My research centres on plant biology, genetics and biotechnology. I have worked with genome editing design, including CRISPR-Cas, loss-of-function, base editing and multiplex editing. Former work was heavily involved in single cell regeneration of genome edited polyploid crops (Solanum tuberosum, Solanum bulbacastanum). Targets for editing and breeding focused on carbohydrate (starch) biosynthesis together with characterisation of multi-level starch structure. My current work is focused on the development of sustainable biomaterials. Mainly production of recombinant proteins in rice cell suspension cultures that can be used in industry as green and sustainable alternatives such as plant derived collagen, PEG-like peptides and artificial spider silk protein.
