Targets in my protein research are self-assembling proteins like collagen and silk that have structure-forming properties (for e.g. texturizing or tissue engineering applications), enzymes (for plastic degradation, feed, etc.), (bioactive) peptides, and food proteins (precision fermentation). Although we use various hosts, Pichia pastoris has been our main protein production workhorse for about 30 years. Beyond this, I am involved in microbial conversion and bioremediation processes.
