Evaluation of probiotic Bacillus and lipopeptide-based feed additives as immunomodulators for reducing antibiotic use iswine production
About
The rise of antimicrobial resistance and the ban on antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) in swine production demand safe and effective alternatives. Spore-forming Bacillus strains and their metabolites, particularly antimicrobial and immunomodulatory lipopeptides, offer an innovative approach beyond conventional probiotics. Our research aims to evaluate bioproducts based on probiotic Bacillus subtilis and B. velezensis strai and their lipopeptide extracts on immunity, gut microbiota, and digestive health of sows and piglets, and their effect on neonatal and post-weaning diarrhea.
