About
I earned my doctorate at the Medical University of South Carolina and completed postdoctoral training in the laboratory of William Gerwick at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. My expertise is in the isolation and structure elucidation of natural products, especially cyanobacterial and algal toxins. I joined the University of Rhode Island as a faculty member in July 2016 and established myself as a productive researcher. I moved to Case Western Reserve University in 2023 and I have continued research into the chemical biology and chemical ecology of cyanobacterial and microalgal specialized metabolites. My research program has received funding from NIH and NOAA, and I am a former awardee of the American Society of Pharmacognosy’s Starter Grant.
