About
Dr. Shiqiang (Nick) Zou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University, where he leads the E-WATER Lab. His research develops electrochemical and electrified treatment systems for water, wastewater, and industrial streams, with an emphasis on selective separation, contaminant destruction (e.g., PFAS), and recovery of valuable resources such as nutrients and critical metals. His work targets complex matrices, including desalination brines, produced waters, and stormwater, addressing contaminants such as PFAS, heavy metals, and nutrients. By integrating interfacial electrochemistry, materials functionalization, and reactor/process design, his group advances scalable, energy-efficient treatment technologies.
