About
Our research group specializes in Digital Agriculture and Food by implementing and integrating digital data, sensors, and tools across agricultural, food, and wine systems, from the livestock paddock, crop fields, and vineyard to the final consumer experience. It encompasses big data analytics, advanced sensor technology, sensor networks and IoT architectures, remote and proximal sensing, robotics and automation, and UAV-based imaging and mapping. These data streams feed AI and machine learning models and support the creation of dynamic digital twins of crops, supply chains, and consumer responses, enabling simulation, prediction, and optimization of soil–plant–atmosphere interactions, product quality, and decision-making for Earth and emerging space-based food production environments.
