My lab studies chronic pain/itch by mapping neuron–glia/immune crosstalk in dorsal root ganglia (SGCs, microglia, astrocytes). We target NR4A1, mitophagy in aging neuropathic pain, and STING signaling, using scRNA-seq and human DRG tissue w/ NYU.
I'm looking for

Seeking: (1) sponsored research on analgesics targeting glia and innate immune pathways (STING/NR4A1); (2) co-development of small molecules for postoperative and neuropathic pain; (3) AAV-to-DRG delivery; (4) human DRG tissue collaborations for target validation/screening.
About
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Cincinnati and Principal Investigator in the UC Pain Research Center. With over 20 years of experience in pain neuroscience, I trained at the University of Lausanne (PhD), Harvard/Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Duke University under leading pain researchers. My work has produced 70+ publications, two patents, and continuous NIH funding. Core expertise includes neuroimmunology, glial biology, DRG sensory neuron physiology, and translational pain models using both rodent and human tissue. I can help industry partners identify and validate novel non-addictive analgesic targets, design preclinical efficacy studies, and bridge the gap between basic discovery and clinical application in chronic pain.
