Metabolic engineering of red yeast Rhodotorula toruloides toward value-added product
About
An array of products include limonene, linalool, carotenoids, phenylethyl alcohol, 3-hydroxypropionic acid, etc have been produced successfully by engineering the red yeast Rhodotorula toruloides. Specially, the production of 3-hydroxypropionic acid reaches 0.568 g/g glucose and over 70 g/g in 3-L bioreactor; lycopene and β-carotene both attain 8% (w/w, DCW), >95 purity (HPLC).
