Xiaozhong Liu is an AI tech-leader with extensive experience spanning academia and industry. He is a Professor of CS and DS at WPI, where he leads research in generative AI, NLP, trustworthy AI, human-AI collaboration, and healthcare AI. Previously, he held faculty positions at Indiana University Bloomington and senior AI leadership roles at Alibaba, where he led a 40+ member NLP research and engineering team supporting large-scale production systems with more than 170 million API calls per day. Earlier, he conducted applied research at Yahoo! on search ranking, personalization, and computational user profiling. His work combines advanced AI research with large-scale system deployment and real-world applications, particularly in healthcare and other high-impact domains.
