Background

Biorational products are typically derived from natural or biological origins. Valent Biosciences / Valent U.S.A. are leaders in enhancing grower productivity by providing them with biorational solutions by way of plant growth regulators (PGRs) and actives for pest management. PGRs are powerful tools for our growers because they improve yield and crop quality and provide for harvest management and crop load management. Pest management actives protects the growers’ valuable crops and ensures food for sustaining our growing population. We are committed to R&D efforts that will expand biorational solutions to help our growers, and advance agriculture.

What we're looking for

We are seeking novel compounds and delivery systems to enhance plant growth and pest management. Organic compounds are preferred.

Solutions of interest include:

PGR activity
Novel compounds that affect biological processes throughout plant growth and development including germination, flowering and fruit set, growth, stress tolerance, ripening, postharvest storage quality, senescence, and dormancy

Pest management activity

Novel compounds that have either selective or broad-spectrum bioherbicide activity
Novel compounds for control of fungi, bacteria, insects, and nematodes on various crop

Delivery systems

Innovative technologies that can enhance the performance of small biological actives by increasing their stability and delivery

Funding up to $100,000 for 6-12 month projects with potential for follow-on funding. Specific funding level is commensurate upon scope of proposal.
