Genista has spent four years building a physical AI robotics platform that automates the repetitive benchtop work lab technicians do every day. Seventeen systems across several modules run in daily production at 99.6% uptime, processing roughly 38,000 samples a month in a live lab setting. Capabilities in production today include sample prep, extraction, dilution, dispensing, plating, sponge handling, and ML-based colony enumeration, with more in development. The platform has been production-hardened for two years.
We built it in house because existing workcells and liquid handlers are engineered against a fixed protocol. Change the method and the cost of reconfiguration often exceeds the value of the automation, so utilization collapses. We hit that ceiling four years ago and rebuilt around it. The next step is a platform that ingests instructions directly as SOPs, methods, or natural language and executes the full sequence of bench tasks a technician would, absorbing protocol changes rather than requiring a reprogramming cycle. The foundation for that is running in production today. Building out the rest is what we are looking for a partner on, through an LOI, development partnership, etc. against a workflow that matters.
Genista Biosciences is an integrated product safety platform that serves the food, beverage, supplement, and consumer goods industries. Founded in 2009 and headquartered in San Jose, California, the company has evolved from a traditional testing laboratory into a unified operating system for product safety. Its platform combines ISO 17025 accredited laboratory testing with proprietary intelligent software and high-throughput production-grade robotics. By integrating these capabilities, Genista automates traditionally fragmented processes, including real-time PCR testing, environmental monitoring, sample submission, results tracking, and certificate of analysis management, into a single, closed-loop system designed to scale with complex production environments.
This integrated approach enables quality assurance and operations teams to move from reactive testing to proactive risk prevention, facilitating faster and more confident decision-making throughout the production lifecycle. By reducing manual processing and enhancing data visibility, Genista helps manufacturers and consumer brands maintain consistency and compliance across their supply chains. The company serves a national customer base, providing dedicated support through managed services, scientific advisory, and logistics, aiming to modernize safety management with the speed and reliability required by modern industry standards.
