UABiosurf is a bio-based surface active modifier designed to improve textile properties. It enhances fiber strength, reduces friction, and prevents dye transfer, making fabrics more durable and resistant to wear. Compatible with detergents, it maintains fabric integrity and color over multiple washes.

Overview

UABiosurf is an innovative bio-based surface active modifier developed to enhance textile properties significantly. Synthesized from fatty acid soyate derived from soybean oil, UABiosurf acts as a crosslinker, improving the strength and durability of fibers. It maintains the shape and size of fabrics even after multiple washes, reducing shrinkage and maintaining garment fit. Additionally, it forms a protective layer on fabrics, preventing dye transfer and ensuring textiles remain clean and free from stains.

Technical specifications
  • Composition: Synthesized from fatty acid soyate with acrylamido groups for crosslinking
  • Key Features:
    • Increases fiber strength and resistance to damage and wear
    • Reduces inter-fiber friction
    • Prevents dye transfer and staining
    • Compatible with commercial detergents and functions without additional detergent
    • Stable under high temperatures and brine
  • Performance:
    • Ultra-low interfacial tension (0.01 mN/m @ 0.05%)
    • Validated through dry tenacity, wet tenacity, and elongation measurements
    • Demonstrated higher wet abrasion resistance, confirming pilling resistance
Technology readiness level

Currently at TRL 5, UABiosurf has undergone laboratory validation and initial testing. Further testing over the next year will include color fastness, detergent compatibility, anti-graying, perfume performance, and stain removal to confirm its adaptability across various textile types and washing conditions.
