A validated dual-platform solution combining UHPLC-QqQ-MS and FIE-HRMS for real-time dietary exposure and health profiling through urinary biomarkers. Suitable for rapid screening and longitudinal tracking in diverse cohorts.
This innovative solution combines targeted Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC) with Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry (QqQ-MS) and flow infusion electrospray–high resolution mass spectrometry (FIE-HRMS) to profile dietary exposure and health through urinary biomarkers. The dual-platform approach allows for real-time assessment of dietary habits, micronutrient sufficiency, and health-related biomarker shifts. It leverages minimally invasive first morning void urine sampling, making it user-friendly while maintaining robust quality assurance and control. This platform supports rapid screening and longitudinal tracking in both controlled and free-living cohorts.
This technology is at TRL 6, having been validated in controlled cohort studies and demonstrating reproducible results. Future validation includes a phased approach to further test biomarker shifts and expand applications in free-living populations.
Aberystwyth University is a comprehensive public research university in Mid Wales with a strong culture of applied collaboration. Industry engagement is anchored by AberInnovation, the on‑campus innovation and enterprise campus offering co‑located labs, pilot‑scale bioprocessing, advanced analysis, and incubation space. Companies connect through Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, consultancy, and contract research facilitated by the Research, Business & Innovation team. Research is supported by UK Research and Innovation councils and Innovate UK, with additional investment from the Welsh Government; the campus has also benefited from European Regional Development Fund support. A dedicated technology transfer office manages IP, licensing, and spin‑out formation with input from a Commercial Advisory Panel.
