Natural product-based disease-modifying therapy (DMT) for alzheimer's: A 'selection-prevention' approach targeting A/T/N biomarkers

What it is We developed a novel, natural product-based oral therapeutic for Alzheimer's. It utilizes a 'Selection-Prevention' model to proactively treat asymptomatic, high-risk patients before severe cognitive decline.

Why it matters Current monoclonal antibodies target single biomarkers at advanced stages, carrying high costs and risks of severe side effects (e.g., ARIA). There is a critical unmet need for a safe, cost-effective, long-term preventative therapy for high-risk populations.

How it works Unlike single-target drugs, our multi-target oral therapy is designed to simultaneously reduce Beta-amyloid plaques and Tau tangles, mitigating neuroinflammation and directly improving cognitive functions.

Proof to date

Preclinical Validation: Joint research with Dongguk University (tg mice) confirmed the simultaneous reduction of Beta-amyloid and Tau, coupled with cognitive improvement.

Exceptional Safety: Safely administered to ~1,000 patients over 4 years in real-world clinical practice with zero fatal side effects and no hepatotoxicity.

Real-World Efficacy: In a clinical observation of 407 patients, an impressive 77.6% demonstrated either improvement or maintenance of cognitive function.

Biomarker Evidence: A 5-patient case study demonstrating Beta-amyloid reduction has been submitted to the SCI-indexed journal Medicine.

Next steps We are actively scaling our clinical evidence through upcoming cohort studies:

15-Subject Cohort: Preparing a clinical study strictly focused on tracking Beta-amyloid reduction.

30-Subject A/T/N Cohort: Planning a comprehensive study to evaluate the 'Triple Marker' (A/T/N: Beta-amyloid, Tau, NfL) to robustly establish our dual-action mechanism.

Partnership Goals: Through this platform, we strongly hope to establish partnerships for out-licensing our technology and conducting joint research to accelerate the global commercialization of our pipeline.

About chongnoi H&D

Chongnoi H&D operates a network of Korean medicine clinics, known as Chongnoi Oriental Medicine Clinic, which specialize in the treatment and prevention of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. The organization has developed a proprietary herbal medicine treatment called Cheongnoe-tang, which has been granted a patent for its efficacy in preventing, treating, or improving Alzheimer's disease. This treatment works by utilizing complex herbal extracts that have been scientifically studied for their ability to reduce amyloid-beta plaque accumulation and phosphorylated tau protein levels, which are critical biomarkers in Alzheimer's pathology. The clinical efficacy of these extracts has been documented in peer-reviewed international scientific journals.

By providing evidence-based, integrative treatment options, the clinic aims to support the cognitive health of an aging population. Their approach addresses the significant challenges faced by patients and their families, seeking to improve patient memory, cognitive function, and quality of life. The clinic's research is spearheaded by its affiliated biotechnology laboratory, which focuses on advancing scientific solutions for neurodegenerative conditions. Through a combination of clinical practice and ongoing research, Chongnoi H&D contributes to the management of cognitive health issues, supported by internal assessments and patient outcome monitoring.
