The VRL Alpha Collar is a proprietary biometric wearable designed for direct autonomic regulation in tactical, athletic, and high-stress environments. Positioned at the neck to leverage immediate proximity to the carotid artery and Vagus nerve, the collar serves as the primary hardware gateway for the Echo AI software ecosystem, providing unparalleled accuracy in tracking and physically modulating the nervous system. Methodology & How It Works: The collar utilizes advanced, non-invasive sensors to continuously monitor Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia (RSA) and Heart Rate Variability (HRV). This telemetry is fed into our proprietary machine-learning dictionary, Echo AI, which maps the wearer's Autonomic Recovery Rate Constant (ARC). When an acute stress response (sympathetic spike) is detected, the collar delivers localized, predictive physical interventions—specifically targeted thermal cooling and haptic resonance. These actuations stimulate the Vagus nerve, artificially engaging the "vagal brake" to force parasympathetic recovery and optimize physiological performance without requiring conscious cognitive effort from the user. Proof to Date: Vector Research Labs (SDVOSB; CAGE 1AMZ0) is currently advancing this underlying autonomic architecture through Technical Review with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). A subsequent DARPA BARK submission is scheduled for May 2026. Hardware and algorithm integration are supported by an institutional partnership with Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), utilizing our "True Blue" decentralized student-engineering pipeline for rapid component prototyping. Next Steps: We are seeking $250k in sponsored research to accelerate manufacturing tooling, miniaturize the sensor array, and finalize the Echo AI API bridge. We are also actively seeking pilot engagements with elite athletic programs, first responders, and DoD units for operational field testing and validation.
