The Neogen MDS is a LAMP-based pathogen testing platform combining isothermal DNA amplification with bioluminescence detection, selected by USDA FSIS as its primary method for Salmonella and Listeria detection. Used in 40+ countries.
The MDS platform uses loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) to detect pathogen DNA without thermal cycling. After sample enrichment, the assay amplifies target DNA at a constant temperature while a bioluminescent reporter generates a real-time light signal. This delivers results faster than traditional PCR with equivalent or superior sensitivity, in a simpler workflow requiring less training. USDA FSIS selected MDS as its primary detection method for Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, and Listeria spp.
