Overview
RAPID'Salmonella Medium relies on two enzymatic activities for identification: C8 esterase (producing magenta colonies for Salmonella) and β-D glucosidase (producing blue colonies for other Enterobacteriaceae). This dual-enzyme system provides high specificity while maintaining high sensitivity. The medium detects motile and non-motile Salmonella, lactose-positive Salmonella, S. Typhi, and S. Paratyphi — strains that some competitive media miss. A validated short protocol delivers results in less than 42 hours.
