A neuro-metabolic platform leveraging functional magnetic resonance spectroscopy (fMRS) to quantify implicit consumer responses during product interactions. The platform identifies neurometabolic signatures associated with engagement and decision-making, offering a translational pathway from research to industry.

Overview

The proposed solution is a neuro-metabolic platform that integrates functional magnetic resonance spectroscopy (fMRS) with a cognitive-emotional task framework. This innovative approach aims to quantify implicit consumer responses during interactions with products and packaging. By tracking neurometabolic dynamics, particularly lactate levels in the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC), the platform identifies biomarkers of neural effort and emotional resonance. This methodology promises to enhance consumer research by providing insights into engagement, cognitive load, and decision-making processes, thereby offering a scalable solution for industrial applications.

Technical specifications

Key features:

  • Utilizes fMRS to monitor neurometabolic changes during emotional-cognitive tasks
  • Detects lactate variations in the dACC as biomarkers of neural engagement
  • Combines controlled exposure tasks with advanced neuroimaging techniques
  • Supports rapid adaptation for consumer research with existing infrastructure
  • Provides a basis for scalable consumer assessment tools
Technology readiness level

Currently at TRL 5, the platform has been experimentally validated in humans, demonstrating reliability and sensitivity in detecting task-evoked neurometabolic responses. A 24-month feasibility phase, in collaboration with industry partners, is proposed to further adapt and optimize the platform for consumer research applications.
