A dual-reservoir topical scent-delivery platform that enhances fragrance longevity by combining immediate aromatic impact with controlled-release reservoirs. This platform reduces volatilization and instability, maintaining fragrance profile over time.
The dual-reservoir topical platform is an innovative solution designed to enhance the longevity of aromatic active release in topical applications. By utilizing a combination of free oil phase for immediate scent and controlled-release reservoirs, this platform addresses common issues like rapid volatilization and instability at high fragrance oil loading. It offers a prolonged and consistent fragrance experience, maintaining the intended scent profile over extended periods.
The platform employs advanced formulation techniques such as cyclodextrin complexes, biodegradable polymer/lipid nanocapsules, and Pickering-stabilized droplets to create controlled-release reservoirs. These are integrated into petrolatum-free oleogel or emulgel bases suitable for various product formats like ointments, sticks, roll-ons, and creams. The system is capable of handling over 10% fragrance oil loading while minimizing phase separation and maximizing volatile retention.
Currently at a Technology Readiness Level of 3, this solution has been validated through prototype batches, tested for viscosity, stability, and fragrance release. Further development includes benchmarking against market products and refining through structured work packages focused on fragrance blend optimization and chassis integration.
