We have developed a multi-compartment delivery platform designed to enable spatial separation and controlled release of oral care actives and viable microorganisms within a single formulation. The system is based on an interfacial resin matrix that stabilizes sensitive components and triggers their release through enzymatic and hydration-driven mechanisms (e.g., saliva interaction). This approach allows sequential delivery of actives, improving efficacy while preserving biological integrity.
In laboratory conditions, the platform has demonstrated the ability to maintain structural integrity, control diffusion, and support localized interaction at the interface level. Initial validation includes film-forming behavior, controlled release profiles, and biological compatibility assessments. The technology is compatible with a wide range of oral care formats (toothpaste, strips, gels, mouthwash systems) and can integrate multiple classes of actives such as antimicrobial agents, plant-derived peptides, and biofilm-modulating compounds.
Next steps include formulation optimization in oral care matrices, validation in simulated oral environments, and co-development with industrial partners to tailor performance to specific product formats and regulatory requirements.
