Company

An AI-driven solution integrating spectrometry and remote sensing for early detection of fungal diseases in vineyards, reducing fungicide use and environmental impact. It combines data from multiple sensors to optimize treatment applications, enhancing vineyard health.

Overview

SpaceCrop, in collaboration with AOTECH, introduces an innovative solution for vineyard management that leverages advanced spectrometry and artificial intelligence to combat fungal diseases. This technology addresses the environmental concerns associated with traditional fungicide use, including soil contamination and the harm to beneficial organisms. The solution provides vineyard managers with precise monitoring tools that detect early signs of fungal infections through indicators like chlorophyll fluorescence and leaf reflectance, enabling timely intervention and reducing chemical inputs.

Technical specifications

Key features:

  • Spectrometry and Remote Sensing: Utilizes spectral sensors operating in the near infrared (NIR) to gather data on leaf and grape spectral characteristics.
  • AI-Based Detection: Integrates meteorological data, real-time soil sensor data, and spectral data to enhance model accuracy for predicting fungal outbreaks.
  • User-Friendly Application: Designed for ease of use by farmers with minimal technical expertise, facilitating widespread adoption.

By combining diverse data sources, this solution enhances the precision of fungal disease detection, thereby optimizing the use of phytosanitary treatments and minimizing their environmental impact.

Technology readiness level

This solution is currently at Technology Readiness Level 6, indicating that it has been validated in a relevant environment. Ongoing validations involve testing in controlled vineyard settings to compare the effects of traditional and AI-optimized treatment methods, with the aim of moving towards commercial deployment.

About SpaceCrop

SpaceCrop is a climate intelligence infrastructure company that utilizes satellite data, GeoAI, and predictive modeling to support agriculture and financial sectors. The company provides a software-as-a-service (SaaS) and data-as-a-service (DaaS) platform that assists farms and enterprises in managing irrigation, forecasting weather, and monitoring soil moisture. By transforming complex Earth observation and climate data into actionable insights, the platform helps users optimize water use, increase crop resiliency, and anticipate operational disruptions caused by climate volatility. The company was founded by Mary Grace Gasco and is based in Budapest, Hungary.

These solutions are critical for farmers and institutions facing increasing climate uncertainty and resource scarcity. By enabling organizations to quantify climate variability and detect early production stress, SpaceCrop helps protect yields and meet sustainability goals. The technology has been applied across various international projects and is increasingly positioned as a financial infrastructure tool for climate risk analytics, ESG data transparency, and supply chain resilience. Through its predictive modeling, the company aids decision-making in agricultural lending, underwriting, and overall farm management.
