Company

The AF DualScan™ Platform combines molecular screening and toxin confirmation to predict and confirm aflatoxin risks in grains. It uses Real-Time PCR and ELISA to provide early risk assessment and contamination verification, streamlining quality control processes.

Overview

The AF DualScan™ Integrated Aflatoxin Prediction & Confirmation Platform offers a comprehensive approach to managing aflatoxin risks in grain supplies. By integrating predictive molecular screening with direct toxin confirmation, this platform provides an early warning system for aflatoxin presence, enabling proactive intervention. The platform leverages Real-Time PCR to detect key genes associated with aflatoxin-producing fungi and employs ELISA to measure current toxin levels. Results are processed through a weighted risk algorithm to categorize risks as Low, Medium, High, or Critical, facilitating efficient grain management decisions.

Technical specifications

Key features:

  • Predictive Screening: Utilizes Real-Time PCR to detect genes (aflR, aflS, aflD, aflQ) linked to aflatoxin biosynthesis, allowing for early risk identification.
  • Toxin Confirmation: Measures current aflatoxin concentrations using ELISA techniques.
  • Risk Algorithm: Processes molecular and toxin data to provide clear risk categories, enhancing decision-making in grain acceptance and storage.
  • Modular Design: Capable of expanding to other mycotoxins like fumonisin, DON, and zearalenone.
Technology readiness level

The platform has achieved a Technology Readiness Level of 8, indicating that it has been demonstrated in an operational environment. Ongoing validation phases are planned to optimize multi-site deployment and expand capabilities to additional mycotoxin targets.
