Lambton College introduces an innovative AI-driven optimization platform designed to transform fermentation-based manufacturing. This platform integrates real-time sensor data, process analytics, and predictive modeling to significantly enhance yield, efficiency, and product consistency. By leveraging machine learning, the system continuously monitors critical parameters such as pH, temperature, and nutrient flow, dynamically adjusting conditions to optimize microbial performance. This results in improved throughput and quality for products like ethanol, organic acids, and erythritol. The platform also forecasts maintenance needs and minimizes downtime, offering manufacturers a competitive advantage in cost efficiency, sustainability, and product quality.

Technology readiness level

This technology is currently at TRL 6, having undergone multiple phases of development and testing. It is in Phase 3 of validation, with controlled trials to benchmark performance improvements. Future phases will refine the models for scalability and prepare for full-scale industrial deployment, including technology transfer documentation for industry partners.


About Lambton College

Companies engage through three NSERC‑funded Technology Access Centres—the Lambton Manufacturing Innovation Centre, the Bio‑Industrial Process Research Centre, and the Digital Technology Lab—which provide contract R&D, prototyping, testing, and process optimization.
