An AI-driven platform using robotics and zebrafish models to discover effective terpene combinations for neuropathy treatment. This system accelerates the development of novel, safe, and consumer-friendly OTC neuropathic pain treatments.

Overview

This innovative platform leverages AI, robotics, and zebrafish models to expedite the discovery of effective terpene-based treatments for neuropathy. By automating the process of mixing and testing terpenes, this system identifies promising combinations for neuropathic pain relief. The use of AI allows for rapid analysis and prediction of the most effective terpene mixtures, which can lead to the development of novel, safe, and consumer-friendly over-the-counter (OTC) neuropathic pain treatments.

Technical specifications
  • AI-driven compound selection: Utilizes cheminformatic modelling and bioactivity data to predict terpene candidates with analgesic or neuroprotective potential.
  • Liquid handling robots: Execute precise and reproducible dosing for both individual and combinatorial administration of terpenes.
  • Zebrafish models: Used as live models to observe pain-related behaviours and gene expression changes.
  • Optimization: Bayesian algorithms refine terpene combinations for maximum therapeutic effect and minimal toxicity.
  • Versatility: Platform can be adapted for other applications, including optimizing microneedle and topical formulations.
Technology readiness level

This platform is currently at Technology Readiness Level 4. It has been validated in a laboratory setting and is undergoing further development to transition optimized terpene formulations into consumer-friendly delivery formats, with a timeline for further validation set at five months.
