Airsanix™ and airsanix+: thermal filter disinfection and regenerative air purification

AirSanix™ and AirSanix+ are air-treatment technologies developed at the University of Alberta for portable and HVAC-integrated applications. They address indoor air quality challenges involving airborne particles, microorganisms, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

AirSanix combines filtration with controlled heating to disinfect captured microorganisms on the filter. During treatment, the filter is isolated within a sealed chamber. The process does not rely on UV light, ozone, or ion generation.

AirSanix+ extends this approach by incorporating adsorbent media for VOC removal and thermal regeneration. It is designed to restore adsorption capacity through controlled heating, reducing reliance on frequent media replacement. Applications under development include portable air treatment for restoration work, residential systems, and sidestream modules for commercial air-handling units.

Development to date includes laboratory microbial testing, filtration and airflow evaluation, and prototype construction. The portable AirSanix unit has received CSA certification and is undergoing a daycare pilot. Construction of the portable AirSanix+ prototype is complete, with further performance validation and field demonstrations planned. Readiness varies by configuration.

We are seeking partners for: • Paid pilots and field demonstrations in commercial, institutional, residential, and restoration settings. • Sponsored research and joint development to validate performance and adapt the technology to specific needs. • Manufacturing, HVAC integration, distribution, and commercialization. • Investment to support product development and market entry. • Early supply or purchase arrangements, subject to model readiness and applicable certification.

AirSanix is exclusively licensed to ABClean Air Solutions Ltd., which leads its commercialization. University research collaborations and company commercial opportunities can be discussed through this listing.
