Developing cost-effective amino acid-based surfactants using industrial waste to enhance stain removal efficiency while promoting environmental sustainability. These surfactants offer superior efficiency, mildness, and biodegradability compared to conventional options.
Amino acid-based surfactants offer a promising alternative to conventional fatty acid and fatty alcohol-based surfactants due to their superior efficiency, mildness, and biodegradability. This research focuses on developing cost-effective amino acid/protein-based surfactants by utilizing industrial waste materials such as cottonseed and silk residues. The aim is to enhance stain removal efficiency by forming stable complexes with hydrophobic food stains like carotenes, capsanthin, and lycopenes, thus providing a sustainable and effective solution for the detergent industry.
Key features:
Currently, the technology is at TRL 3, with initial synthesis and formulation development underway. Future validation steps include comprehensive efficacy testing, compatibility assessments, and environmental impact evaluations to further advance the technology towards commercialization.
