A design framework that combines multiobjective optimization and AI to improve PET container designs. It automates trade-off management across material use, mechanical performance, and manufacturability, using data and FEA simulations to generate high-quality, industry-standard designs. The approach supports rapid iteration and modular integration with CAD workflows and visualization tools.

Overview

A design framework automates PET container optimization by integrating multiobjective optimization and artificial intelligence through a process called “Innovization.” It targets improved design efficiency and performance by optimizing trade-offs among conflicting objectives such as material utilization, mechanical properties, and manufacturability. The framework leverages extensive data and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) simulations to produce high-quality, industry-standard container designs that are both innovative and cost-effective.

Technical specifications
  • Innovization-based optimization: Integrates optimization techniques with AI to explore and automate design trade-offs
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Uses simulations to inform design decisions and support mechanical performance requirements
  • AI integration: Automates the design process to enable rapid iteration and design modification
  • Modular design: Supports integration with existing CAD systems and decision-making with visualization tools
Technology readiness level

This technology is currently at TRL 5, indicating it has been validated in a relevant environment. Future steps include pilot studies, user acceptance testing, and integration with CAD systems to further refine and validate the framework.
