BioArmix offers a sustainable, non-GMO solution using predatory bacteria to combat bacteria-driven crop diseases. Initially targeting soft rot in potatoes, it provides an eco-friendly alternative to traditional bacteriocides and antibiotics, improving food security.
BioArmix presents an innovative Ag-tech solution utilizing non-GMO, naturally derived predatory bacteria to effectively combat bacteria-driven crop diseases. This sustainable approach targets soft rot in potatoes, a significant issue causing up to one-third yield loss annually. Unlike traditional copper-based bacteriocides and antibiotics, which are increasingly restricted due to environmental concerns, BioArmix offers an eco-friendly alternative that enhances crop yield and food security while conserving natural resources.
BioArmix's core technology involves encapsulating predatory bacteria with GRAS-authorized compounds, resulting in a room-temperature-stable product. The solution has demonstrated efficiency in eliminating multiple rot-causing strains of Pectobacterium and Dickeya under laboratory conditions. Field trials have shown promising results with over 50% reduction in soft-rot disease in potted potato tubers. BioArmix's efficacy is comparable to Hypochlorite in post-harvest treatments, ensuring potato quality during storage.
Key features:
BioArmix is currently at Technology Readiness Level 5, having completed lab-scale validation and initial field trials. The product is undergoing further field experiments with major potato producers in Israel and is in the biopesticide regulatory process. Plans are underway to expand validation and regulatory efforts to the USA, focusing on field and post-harvest trials to tailor the solution for local agricultural needs.
