Introducing biodegradable nanocellulose-based chelating agents that enhance detergent formulations. These agents offer ion exchange capabilities, amphiphilic properties, and safe biodegradability, potentially improving cleaning efficiency and environmental safety.
Fiborizon Technology presents a novel approach to detergent enhancement through biodegradable chelating agents derived from functionalized nanocellulose. These agents are crafted by integrating chemical moieties such as carboxyl, sulfate, or phosphate onto cellulose, the most abundant natural polymer. The resulting nanocellulose hydrogel is not only biodegradable but also possesses chelating activity that can enhance the performance of liquid detergent formulations. It offers additional benefits such as amphiphilic and anti-wear properties, contributing to improved detergent efficiency and safety for wastewater streams.
This technology is currently at TRL 4, having been validated in laboratory settings with further evaluation planned for real washing conditions. The upcoming phases include extensive testing in commercial detergent formulations and assessment of functional performance under real-world conditions.
