Company

Hi Cell Crop Sciences is developing next-generation GRAS-based botanical preservation technologies purpose-built to replace sodium nitrite, acetate, and lactate — the synthetic preservatives that clean-label food systems are urgently moving away from. Our proprietary platform is built on highly refined extracts from GRAS-category herbs with potent antimicrobial, antifungal, antioxidant, and physiological modulation properties. Unlike conventional herb extracts that compromise flavour, Hi Cell's formulations are engineered for full sensory compatibility — broad-spectrum efficacy without organoleptic interference. The technology delivers demonstrated shelf-life extension across RTE meats, sauces, condiments, dressings, and processed foods — with strong efficacy against Lactobacillus spp., Leuconostoc spp., and Listeria monocytogenes at dosages below 0.05%. It simultaneously suppresses spoilage, slime formation, and oxidation through combined antimicrobial and antioxidant action.

About Hi cell Crop Sciences LLC

Hi Cell Crop Sciences LLC is an agricultural technology company that develops botanical, GRAS-based (Generally Recognized As Safe) bioactive solutions intended to replace hazardous synthetic chemicals in farming and crop protection. Their platform utilizes systemic delivery and novel extraction science to create products that enhance crop resilience, fruit shelf-life, and preservation. The company maintains a research and development facility in Pune, India, featuring laboratory capabilities and a 40,000-square-foot polyhouse for controlled field testing. Their innovation strategy focuses on sustainability, creating formulations that are OMRI/FIFRA 25b compliant or derived from common herbs and spices to meet stringent regulatory standards.

These innovations are designed to support growers by providing safer, scalable alternatives that address complex agricultural challenges such as pest management and post-harvest decay without negatively impacting pollinators or the environment. By focusing on biorational solutions, the company aims to help producers improve yield and quality while adhering to global sustainability goals. Currently, the company operates as a self-funded entity with a focus on markets in India, the US, and the EU, conducting ongoing efficacy validation through internal trials and collaborations with recognized research organizations and universities. They are planning a US-based production facility to support their global growth objectives.
