A novel carbon dot-hydrogel platform designed for sustained and localized delivery of a pain-relieving drug. This system enhances skin permeability and adhesion, offering targeted relief with reduced systemic side effects.
The carbon dot-hydrogel platform offers a revolutionary approach for localized pain management. By capping a pain-relieving drug onto carbon dots derived from amino acids and integrating it into a skin-adhesive hydrogel, this solution enables targeted delivery directly to affected areas. The innovation lies in the near-zero dimension of the carbon dots, which promotes effective skin permeability, allowing the drug to penetrate the skin for sustained relief without the side effects associated with systemic administration.
Currently at TRL 4, this technology has undergone preclinical studies demonstrating localized pain relief capabilities. Further collaboration is sought to enhance the TRL and explore additional applications.
