Inspired by the adhesives used in peelable labels and tapes, this nail polish combines cutting-edge polymers and additives to ensure both strong adhesion and clean removal.
Technical specifications
The technology leverages commercially available polymers such as acrylic block copolymers and urethane polymers, selected for their adhesion and peelability properties. These materials are known for their extensibility and flexibility, essential for creating a durable yet removable nail polish film. The formulation also incorporates additives to enhance chip resistance, gloss, and color vibrancy, ensuring a high-quality cosmetic finish. Initial formulations will be colorless, with pigments added later for final product development. The option for UV curable formulations is also available, utilizing commercially available UV resins.
Technology readiness level
This technology is at TRL 6, having been validated in a lab environment with artificial nails. The next steps include the use of real nails to further refine and validate the formulation, ensuring optimal performance in real-world applications.
