PES Technologies proposes the co-development of an autonomous in-field version of its ScentsCheck technology, a VOC-sensing tool providing rapid soil health data. This project aims to enhance soil management practices by automating sampling and analysis.
PES Technologies is seeking partners to co-develop an autonomous in-field version of its ScentsCheck technology, which utilizes VOC-sensing to deliver rapid and comprehensive soil health data. The current handheld system is capable of assessing over 14 biological and non-biological soil indicators within 10 minutes. By transitioning to an in-field autonomous system, this project aims to simplify and enhance soil monitoring, enabling growers to optimize their soil management practices, including timing and dosage of biological products.
Key features:
The ScentsCheck technology is currently at TRL 4, with plans to advance through co-development. Initial lab prototype validation will be followed by tests in relevant environments to prepare for market readiness.
PES Technologies is an environmental technology company that has developed ScentsCheck™, a proprietary sensor platform that detects volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to provide rapid, actionable intelligence. By functioning as an electronic nose and utilizing AI-driven analysis, the system transforms invisible molecular signatures into comprehensive data insights. While initially designed for in-field soil health assessment, the technology is highly versatile with potential applications across sectors such as food storage, quality control, animal health, and disease detection. The platform allows users to bypass the delays associated with conventional laboratory testing, delivering accurate results in minutes instead of weeks.
The company’s solutions empower farmers, agronomists, and industrial partners to make informed, data-backed decisions that enhance efficiency and sustainability. By providing real-time, on-site diagnostics, PES Technologies addresses significant barriers related to the cost, reliability, and accessibility of traditional testing methods. Their offering includes both portable hardware for in-field use and a testing-as-a-service model, ensuring that critical data is available when and where it is needed to drive operational improvements and foster more resilient environmental management practices.
