Enhance textile durability and appearance with innovative detergent additives that stabilize dyes and prevent fibre deterioration during washing. This solution uses natural biopolymers and UV stabilisers to protect against dye leaching and UV damage, extending fabric life.

Overview

This innovative solution enhances the durability and appearance of textiles by introducing small, natural-origin additives to detergents. These additives work to stabilize dyes within the fibres, thus preventing common issues such as dye leaching and UV-induced degradation. By doing so, the solution not only maintains the colour and lustre of fabrics but also mitigates fibre damage, thereby reducing fabric hairiness and microplastic emissions.

Technical specifications
  • Biopolymer additives: Water-soluble biopolymers are used to stabilize dyes within the textile fibres during washing. This reduces dye leaching and enhances colour retention.
  • UV stabilisers: Natural materials act as UV stabilisers to prevent dye degradation from sunlight exposure, preserving the fabric's appearance.
  • Chemical deactivation: Hazardous chemicals within the fibres are deactivated, reducing potential damage and further preserving textile integrity.
Technology readiness level

The solution is currently at Technology Readiness Level 3, indicating that it has been proven in a laboratory setting but requires further development and validation in real-world conditions.

About Technical University of Liberec

The Technical University of Liberec is a public, medium‑sized, application‑oriented university that combines technical education with broader fields and serves as the region’s academic hub. Collaboration with industry is anchored by the Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation (CXI), which co‑locates shared equipment, prototyping facilities, and teams that deliver contract research and development. Its position near the Czech–German–Polish border and in a region with established textile, glass, chemical, and automotive manufacturing enables close engagement with local suppliers and global OEMs. Research is supported by competitive funding from Czech national agencies and European programmes. A dedicated technology transfer office and a university‑owned commercialization company provide IP management, licensing, and pathways to spin‑outs and contract services.
