Company

SylvitaTech presents a novel spray-driven wet granulation technology to enhance psyllium fiber drinkability by controlling hydration kinetics. This approach reduces initial viscosity, enabling smoother consumption while preserving psyllium's beneficial properties.

Overview

SylvitaTech introduces an innovative solution to improve the drinkability of psyllium fibers using a spray-driven wet granulation process. This technology engineers the microstructure of psyllium particles with food-compatible materials to control hydration kinetics. By delaying water penetration, the technology reduces initial viscosity and allows for smoother consumption. The gradual hydration profile maintains psyllium's functional benefits, such as water-holding and nutrient-diffusion properties, without permanent chemical modification.

Technical specifications

Key features:

  • Utilizes food-compatible structuring components to engineer particle microstructure
  • Slows early water penetration and limits rapid viscosity buildup
  • Maintains psyllium's shear-thinning behavior
  • Compatible with existing dry powder manufacturing processes
  • Granulation formulations are tunable for specific hydration delay profiles
Technology readiness level

Currently at TRL 4, the technology demonstrates proof of concept in a laboratory setting. Optimization of formulation composition and granulation conditions is ongoing to refine the hydration control and ensure compatibility with conventional manufacturing processes. Future validation will focus on benchmarking against commercial products and evaluating performance in beverage formulations.
