Innovative electroforming bath designed for effective copper and nickel deposition on aluminium mandrels, overcoming traditional dissolution challenges. Utilizes advanced electrochemical studies to optimize bath composition and plating parameters.

Overview

This solution addresses the challenge of electroforming copper and nickel thick films on tubular aluminium mandrels, which traditionally face issues due to the dissolution of aluminium in plating solutions. Our custom-designed electroforming bath leverages advanced electrochemical techniques to optimize the composition and parameters for effective metal deposition, enhancing the durability and quality of the plated films.

Technical specifications

Key features of the custom electroforming bath include:

  • Advanced electrolyte composition: Specially formulated to minimize aluminium dissolution while ensuring robust copper and nickel deposition.
  • Utilization of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry: These tools are employed to study and refine the electrolyte structure, ensuring optimal plating efficiency and film quality.
  • Thick film deposition: Capable of producing high-quality, thick copper and nickel films suitable for various industrial applications.
Technology readiness level

The technology is currently at TRL 3, indicating experimental proof of concept. Ongoing research focuses on improving the performance of the customized electroforming bath through detailed electrochemical studies.
