Innovative dissolving microneedles enhance minoxidil solubilization and delivery, promoting hair and beard growth through improved skin permeability and vasodilation.
This technology utilizes dissolving microneedles made from a natural compound to enhance the solubilization and delivery of minoxidil, a common hair growth stimulant. By forming micelles in water, these microneedles enable high concentrations of minoxidil to be delivered directly to hair follicles, improving effectiveness and reducing the time required for visible hair growth results. Additionally, the compound itself has vasodilatory properties, potentially enhancing blood circulation and further promoting hair health.
The technology is currently at TRL 3, having been validated in a mouse model for androgenic alopecia. Future validation includes developing a suitable human beard regeneration model to further test efficacy, with a proposed study duration of approximately one year.
