A novel double-emulsion gel designed for transdermal nerve pain relief, combining a hyper-saline Magnesium Chloride core with Menthol in a stable lipid matrix. This advanced formulation bypasses the skin barrier effectively, reduces irritation, and accelerates pain relief.

Overview

The dual-action W1/O/W2 nanoemulsion gel represents a significant advancement in transdermal nerve pain relief solutions. Combining a hyper-saline Magnesium Chloride core with a Menthol-based counter-irritant, this formulation is designed to deliver rapid and effective pain relief directly to epidermal nociceptors. The novel double-emulsion structure ensures that the active ingredients bypass the stratum corneum through the follicular shunt route, reducing typical skin irritation associated with high magnesium concentrations.

Technical specifications

Key features:

  • Utilizes a valve-based high-pressure homogenizer to create sub-micron droplets for effective encapsulation.
  • The hyper-saline Magnesium Chloride core is protected by a stable lipophilic lipid matrix, minimizing osmotic shock and irritation.
  • Menthol is dissolved in the oil phase, acting as a permeation enhancer to boost transdermal absorption.
  • Non-ionic steric stabilizers in the external water phase ensure structural stability and effective delivery.
  • Designed as a non-greasy "Magnesium Milk" hydrogel for high consumer compliance.
Technology readiness level

The technology is currently at TRL 4, with core double-emulsion optimization, physicochemical characterization, and industrial scale-up validation underway. Future steps include pilot scale-up and IP validation to ensure readiness for commercial application.
