Bezwada Biomedical introduces a biodegradable, biobased polyurethane coating for fiber-based beverage packaging, offering excellent barrier properties, rapid curing, and environmental sustainability. This innovative solution aims to enhance recyclability and performance.

Overview

Bezwada Biomedical presents an innovative solution with its eco-friendly biobased polyurethane coatings, specifically designed for fiber-based beverage packaging. These coatings utilize a unique, fully hydrolysable chemistry, enabling them to degrade into non-toxic byproducts and support fiber recyclability. By incorporating safe isocyanate and biobased monomers, the coatings offer strong, elastomeric properties tailored to specific barrier requirements and mechanical needs, ensuring both performance and sustainability.

Technical specifications
  • Biodegradable design: Made from safe isocyanate and biobased monomers, the coatings degrade into non-toxic byproducts.
  • Performance features: Offers customizable mechanical properties with excellent barrier performance against moisture and oxygen.
  • Application and curing: Rapid ambient curing suitable for spray applications, with tailored adhesion to fiber substrates.
  • Proven technology: Based on the same chemistry used in Montage®, a line of FDA-approved resorbable bone products.
Technology readiness level

This technology is currently at TRL 4, with ongoing development to optimize formulations for moisture and oxygen barrier properties. The next phases involve lab-scale testing and scaling up for pilot production runs, with collaborative efforts underway to prepare for commercial validation.
