A novel electrostatic spray-dried (ESD) platform delivers controlled, sustained energy through co-encapsulated ingredients like caffeine and B vitamins. This solution offers a clean taste and is compatible with various food formats.

Overview

The electrostatic spray-dried (ESD) ingredient platform is designed to deliver controlled, sustained physical and mental energy through foods. By co-encapsulating energy actives such as caffeine, amino acids, and B vitamins, the technology ensures rapid and steady energy release. This innovative approach masks bitterness and metallic notes, offering a clean taste suitable for beverages, snacks, dairy, and cereals. The ingredients are nutrient-dense and compatible with standard food processing techniques.

Technical specifications

The ESD platform uses low-temperature, inert processes to preserve the potency and taste of sensitive compounds like polyphenols and adaptogens. It creates core-shell particles that allow for temporal release: surface dissolution for quick energy and focus, followed by slower core release to provide sustained energy without spikes. This method supports high active loads, enabling low-inclusion formulations. The powders are free-flowing and scalable, using food-grade carriers.

Technology readiness level

The current technology readiness level is 3, indicating that the ESD platform is in the early stages of development. Future steps include defining use cases, optimizing formulation and particle design, and conducting sensory and performance testing. Pilot-scale runs and a commercialization roadmap are planned to further validate and ready the technology for market entry.
