A proprietary polymer-based tablet formulation that enables controlled, extended release of hydrogen peroxide from sodium percarbonate, delivering broad-spectrum antimicrobial action with shelf stability of weeks to months instead of hours.
Sodium percarbonate is a solid-phase source of hydrogen peroxide, a well-documented broad-spectrum antimicrobial. However, once dissolved in water, it degrades within hours, making it impractical for routine consumer and industrial cleaning. This solution addresses that limitation through a proprietary, environmentally benign polymer formulation that controls the release of oxidant from pressed tablets. The result is a stable, on-demand cleaning product with a projected shelf life of weeks to months, suitable for both consumer and environmental remediation applications.
The formulation has been produced at manufacture scale, and the ability to tune oxidant release kinetics has been demonstrated. Ongoing validation work includes screening additional degradable polymers and refining process parameters to extend release duration. Antimicrobial efficacy will be tested by submerging tablets in water and evaluating the supernatant using ASTM E2274 at timepoints ranging from one hour to one month, providing standardized evidence of long-duration antimicrobial performance.
