Disposable colorimetric strip for real-time breath malodor detection

Technology
Conceptual
Company

HalitoStrips™ is a novel disposable diagnostic strip that provides consumers with immediate, objective, visual feedback on breath freshness — no device, app, or training required.

The technology is based on a proprietary colorimetric reaction triggered specifically by volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs), the primary biomarkers of oral malodor. Upon brief activation and exhalation onto the strip, a visible color change occurs proportional to VSC concentration, delivering a clear, interpretable result within seconds.

Halitosis affects approximately 31.8% of the global population, with 80–90% of cases originating intraorally. Despite this prevalence, no affordable consumer-grade self-diagnostic tool currently exists. Professional instruments such as halimeters and gas chromatography systems remain inaccessible for daily use. HalitoStrips™ fills this gap directly.

Developed by MDDr. Yasir AL-Bayati, (Doctor of Dental Medicine) graduated from Charles University, First Faculty of Medicine, Prague, the invention combines direct clinical insight with a scientifically grounded detection mechanism.

We are seeking a co-development or licensing partner with manufacturing and distribution capability. Full technical details are available under NDA upon expression of interest.
